Cross Country

Congratulations to our Cross Country team who clinched ALL THREE BAA plaques yesterday! Special shout outs to: Graeme Manwell on his 2nd place finish, Claire Rands on her 2nd place finish, and Liston Brown on her 1st place finish! Nice work, team! CWOSSA, here we come.

Girls Rugby

The girls 7’s rugby teams finished the 2023 season with a strong showing at the BAA championships in Walkerton yesterday.   The Mustangs had teams in both the championship and open divisions.

In the championship division,  SMHS beat Sacred Heart 25 - 5,  tied OSDSS 15 - 15 and lost a tough first game to KDSS 20 - 10.   Unfortunately we just missed going to the finals due to plus/minus.

Hockeyfest 2023!!!

On Friday November 17th, 2023 two (2) games of fast-paced High School Hockey will be featured at the Bayshore Community Centre between St. Mary’s High School (SMHS) and Owen Sound District Secondary School (OSDSS). The games will be televised and are intended to bring our two schools together to celebrate our community and the great sport of hockey.

The plan is to have all students from both schools attend each hockey game in order to cheer on our students and celebrate together!

Some very important highlights are listed below.

  • Period 1 teachers walk their class to the Bayshore between 9:40 am - 10:00 a.m.
  • Puck drop for the Girls’ Game is 10:00 a.m.
  • The Girls’ Game will end at approximately 11:30 a.m.
  • Concession Booths will be open for purchase of lunch and snacks.
  • Between the two hockey games there will be a "Chuck a Puck" Fundraiser -  Attendees can purchase pucks and throw them onto the ice when instructed to do so, aiming for the middle dot.  The closest puck to the dot wins a prize. All proceeds will be split between CMHA and Salvation Army Food Bank on behalf of the students of SMHS and OSDSS.
  • Puck drop for the Boys’ Game is approximately 12:00 p.m.
  • The Boys’ Game will end at approximately 2:00 p.m.
  • Teachers and students walk back and return to school together.

Student Expectations:

  • Students are expected to have Parents/Guardians complete a permission form via School Cash Online for this event.  https://bgcdsb.schoolcashonline.com/
  • Students should NOT be driving themselves or others to the Bayshore.
  • Students are expected to remain in the Bayshore for the duration of these events.
  • Students will respect the instructions of the Security and Police Officers who will be present at the Bayshore.

We realize this will be a HUGE event for the school and we really want to bring our Mustang School Spirit to the forefront!!  Our Student Council is hard at work planning additional fun-filled activities to boost our School Spirit to even higher levels for this event.  Face painting during the first 20-30 minutes of Period 1, prior to walking to the Bayshore, is one example.  We also hope to have lots of Mustang Swag throughout the Bayshore during this event.

PLEASE have your parents or guardians complete the permission form online or get a paper copy from your homeroom teacher!

Reminder to Grade 12 Students - McMaster University will be doing a presentation today after announcements.  Please listen for the presentation location.
