Good morning everyone,
Today kicks off the beginning of Pride month as well as National Indigenous History Month. For those who may not know this, it is our school’s and our board’s first time in history raising the Pride flag. Our Director of Education, Gary O’Donnell, explains that, “It ensures that this outward facing sign of inclusion and acceptance communicates to our students, fellow staff, families, and the larger community that our schools are welcoming, inclusive and safe places to learn, grow and pray.” As a Catholic school, we are called to recognize that everyone is made in the image and likeness of God. Over the next few weeks, members of the Sexuality and Gender Acceptance club will share some stories and statistics with us. What can you do today to help promote acceptance and inclusion?
Coffee House
Our next St. Mary’s Coffee House will be happening this Thursday June 9th after school in the drama room. Come out for an amazing evening of entertainment starting from 3:30-5:30. Coffee and special treats will be available thanks to Ms. Attenborough and the Food and Nutrition class! Donations are happily accepted and will go towards our production next year.
June is National Indigenous History Month
In June, we commemorate National Indigenous History Month. During this month, take time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada.
Improv
There will be an open improv this afternoon from 3:30 to 5:15 in the Drama Room. All are welcome to come learn Improv skills and play theatre games.
Sr boys volleyball
Practice today afterschool. Sign up for late bus.
Prom Volunteers
Those of you who have volunteered to help with the Prom dinner, could you please come see Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Attenborough at the beginning of lunch in Resource.
Speaking of Prom…
Tomorrow evening is Prom! If you haven’t let Ms. Martin in the Finance Office know who your guest is, she needs to know for the guest list. Make sure you touch base with her today. Plus, there are so many of you who have not picked up your actual ticket. The Prom Committee did an awesome job producing them ~ please make sure you head to the finance office to pick it up. It’ll make a great souvenir from your Grade 12l year at high school.
Boys OFSAA Lacrosse Team
The St. Mary’s Mustangs competed at the OFSAA championships over the last two days. The coaches couldn’t be more proud of the effort, teamwork, and willingness to compete. The boys never gave up and absolutely put their bodies on the line for their teammates.
The coaching staff and the boys lacrosse team would like to thanks all of the volunteers, players, teachers, and school staff who volunteered their time to support the vent.
The boys lacrosse team ended up finishing in 6th place, the highest the team has ever placed in school history. Again, the coaches are proud of you. Way to go!
A special shout out to the girls soccer and lacrosse teams for volunteering both days. You did a great job!
