Mustang’s Football
“Rouge” – noun – when a single point is scored by the kicking team by booting the ball into, or through, the endzone during a punt or missed field goal with the receiving team failing to advance the ball past the goal line.
It’s a charming, unassuming, and typically a non-consequential quirk of Canadian football – until it wins a team a semifinal high school football game – as was the case Thursday afternoon in Owen Sound.
With the game tied 7-7 and one play left in the game - Tanner Hamill kicked the Rouge to send your St. Mary’s Mustangs to next week's championship game. The Mustang’s are looking to capture their 7th straight football championship next Friday at 2pm. It was a resilient team effort to overcome a strong Grey Highlands team to set Tanner up for the game winner.
Highlights from yesterday's game:
Ben Duwyn 9 tackles
Spencer Aberdien - 1 Interception
Teagan Ledrew - blocked punt
Nate Ryan - 11 carriers for 88 yards & 1 Touchdown
Jack Diaz - 5 carriers for 53 yards
Owen Lang - 92 return yards

Girls’ Rugby
After almost two months of practicing, the girls’ rugby teams finally got a chance to play yesterday when they hosted Sacred Heart High School for a couple of exhibition games. It was an excellent set of games, especially considering that two thirds of the team had never played rugby before.
Strong team play led to Addison Hoffman, Madison Barfoot, Jovee Hamill, Frida Jiron, and Emilia Janzen scoring tries for the Mustangs.
There will be one more practice next Tuesday after school, to wrap up the fall season.
Cross Country
Wish your Cross Country team GOOD LUCK as they head to Lakefield College School to compete at OFSAA this weekend. #GOMUSTANGSGO
