Dear Parents / Guardians,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year. As a Catholic School system we are excited to welcome our students and staff back to our buildings. During the summer months we have been busy preparing for our return to school. As this is the second year in a row that we are reopening our schools after a period of extended closure we are happy once again to hear the voices of our students and staff in our hallways and classrooms. We hope you have taken time to review our school opening plans that were released at the end of August.
As we begin this year we do so with more activities available to students with the gradual beginning of clubs, sports and other extracurricular activities. This is exciting and was clearly articulated by our students last spring through our Student and Staff surveys. We are excited and encouraged to return some more normalcy to our school year. We know that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over, vaccination rates are high but there is still some more work to be done. We also have very comprehensive Covid-19 protocols in place and this will require us to continue to have a high degree of fidelity to our protocols such as masking, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. We ask each family to ensure that the Covid-19 Screening tool is completed each day before coming to school. We all have a responsibility to keep each other safe.
It is our most fervent hope that we will remain in person for the entirety of this school year. However, families will need to be prepared for the possibility of class, school or system closures as directed by the Ministry of Education and/or the Grey-Bruce Public Health Unit because of Covid-19. As a Catholic School District we know that we can move quickly should the need arise.
We thank you for your continued support of Catholic Education, we as a Catholic School system are fully engaged in our collective commitment to our Catholic Faith and to live daily our Mission to “Let Your Light Shine.”
Best wishes for a fantastic 2021-22 school year.
God Bless,
Lori Di Castri, Chair of the Board
