BGCDSB Schools: Return to School - January 25, 2021

January 20, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As a result of the announcement from the Ministry of Education today, we want to provide you with a brief update. Under the direction of the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit, we will open our schools for in person learning for students on January 25, 2021. Schools will be open for both elementary and secondary panels.

As directed by the Ministry, students in grades 1-3 will now be required to wear a mask. This means that beginning January 25, all students grades 1-12 will be required to wear a mask while at school. There are also requirements that masks must be worn outside of school (at recess, before school begins) if physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Families should use the updated self -screening protocol every morning before students return to school. It is very important that this screener is used daily and follow the instructions outlined in the screening tool to ensure that all within our community are safe. Fidelity to all protocols, including the screening tool are very important as we return to in person learning.

Please use the updated screener: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Families in K-3 who received devices during the recent closure, please return these to school on Monday.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to your Catholic School Principal.

Be Safe and Be Well,

God Bless,

Gary O’Donnell Director of Education
