Dear Parents,
As per the Minister of Education’s announcement today, the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board will be extending the school closure period due to the increasing Covid-19 cases in our Province. Therefore, elementary students who are enrolled in in-person learning will continue with remote learning until Monday, January 25, 2021.
Secondary students who are enrolled in in-person learning are still scheduled to also return to school on Monday, January 25, 2021.
We will continue to follow the same procedures we have been following this week. These are challenging times and we appreciate that many of our families and many of our educators are taking care of young children and teaching / working remotely all at the same time. We truly appreciate your patience and all that everyone is doing to ensure the continuity of learning.
For students with complex special education needs, schools will be contacting families and will make the necessary arrangements for those who need to attend school in person.
Please do not forget about the following resources available to you:
Ministry Resources
The Ministry of Education also recently announced the launch of two new portals developed by Ontario certified teachers. TVO Learn. Secondary students can access TVO’s Independent Learning Centre (ILC) Open House, which provides access to course materials that can support a number of Grade 9-12 courses.

Government Funding for Families
A new Government Support Program for secondary student parents has been launched. If your child is between 13 years of age to Grade 12, you are eligible to receive a one-time payment of $200 per eligible student to help offset education expenses. A similar program was announced earlier for children under 13 years of age and is still open to parents. The application instructions will be available on the Support for Learners web page. Secondary school student applications will be open from January 11, 2021 to February 8, 2021.
