Dear BGCDSB Families,
We received word from the Ministry of Education l ate yesterday afternoon i ndicating that they are asking School Boards to remind students and staff to bring home materials they may require for remote l earning before they l eave for Christmas. You may have seen this on the news or in social media.
"As a reminder, we are recommending that boards encourage students and staff to take home any materials that they may require for remote l earning before they l eave school for the holiday period so that we can continue to be ready for all scenarios. "
At this time, as a proactive step i n the event that we would have to move to remote l earning after the Christmas Break, we are asking students from grades 4-12 to take home their Chromebook. Principals will work to distribute devices to students i n K-3 whose families indicated on the recent survey they need a device. The Ministry of Education has been clear that they do not anticipate schools being closed after the Christmas break. If the landscape were to change, we could move seamlessly forward. If we were to hear anything about school closures i n our area after the Christmas Break we will l et you know as soon as possible. We will communicate with you via your regular school communication channels and the Bruce-Grey CDSB social media feeds.
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new communication from the Ministry of Education and move i nto the Christmas holidays. May the gifts of hope, faith, joy and peace fill your homes and renew you and your family this Christmas season.
Be Safe and Be Well.
God Bless,
Gary O ‘Donnell, Director of Education
